QUOTE OF THE DAY

Common sense is not so common.
Voltaire

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY – On January 8,1946 In competing versions of the story, what Elvis Presley really wanted for his birthday was a rifle or a bicycle, both fairly typical choices for a boy his age growing up on the outskirts of Tupelo, Mississippi. Instead, Elvis’s highly protective mother, Gladys took him to the Tupelo Hardware Store and bought a gift that would change the course of history: a $6.95 guitar. Elvis Aaron Presley was 11 years old.

PRAYER – A DOMINICAN BLESSING FOR YOU – May God make you holy when you feel stalled and stuck and nothing seems to motivate you or move you forward in your journey. In these neutral places may you imagine God coming to rest beside you, grateful for the time to be with you in the idleness. May you take this time to notice where you are and to listen for the voices in your environment or within your heart. And may you experience the wordless presence of God in the quiet places. May the God of Abiding Presence be with you. –Maxine Shonk, OP
