“Tall Cop” Youth Substance Abuse Presentation at EGR

East Grand Rapids Public Schools invites parents and community members to attend an informative presentation by Officer Jermaine Galloway, also known as “Tall Cop,” regarding the risks and dangers of youth substance abuse. This 2-hour presentation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the East Grand Rapids High School Performing Arts Center, 2211 Lake Drive SE.

Tall Cop currently works as a police officer in Idaho and travels the country presenting to school districts, community groups, and law enforcement agencies on the topic of youth-related substance abuse. He has trained over 105,000 professionals nationally and internationally, and has worked with school districts. Tall Cop educates communities on the constantly changing drug culture and what parents should know in order to help educate and protect their children.

Covering a wide array of topics, Tall Cop discusses drugs and alcohol that are popular with youth of all ages, e-cigarettes, and marijuana-laced vapes, and new marijuana products with high potency levels. In addition, Tall Cop explains how prescription pills are being sold and how additional components to the pills are causing overdoses and deaths. As marijuana laws continue to change throughout the country, Tall Cop illustrates how students are obtaining over-the-counter and easy-to-get legal drugs. Our youth today are presented with more accessibility to substances than ever before, and Tall Cop provides communities and schools the most current and relevant information to assist in keeping our children safe.

East Grand Rapids Public Schools appreciates the partnership of the Community Action Council (CAC) and the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation for supporting Tall Cop’s visit to East Grand Rapids Public Schools. We are confident Tall Cop will provide meaningful information and resources to help ensure that communities are well equipped to understand and recognize substance abuse.
