Kitchen – Food Service Assistant

POSITION TITLE: Food Service Assistant
REPORTS TO: Food Service Supervisor
HOURS: 20 Hours per week
DESIRED START DATE: October 9, 2017

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: Catholic Central High School is rich in both history and tradition. Founded in 1906 by Bishop Henry Richter and the Dominican Sisters, it is the oldest Catholic, coeducational, diocesan high school in the U.S. It draws and benefits from a culturally diverse student body. And, since being established, over 20,000 students have graduated, many who still serve our community today.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•        Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
•        Weights and measures designated ingredients.
•        Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
•        Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
•        Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils.
•        Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
•        Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
•        Serves students in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
•        Resolves students/staff concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor.
•        Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
•        Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•        High School Diploma or GED
•        Average math and computer skills
•        Evidence of high standards of ethics, confidentiality, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters
•        Evidence of good organizational, interpersonal & communication skills
•        Exhibit ability to act in a rational manner in an emergency
•        Ability to lift 40 pounds without restrictions
•        Able to work on feet for most of shift
