2024–2025 Year in Review: Catholic Central Highlights

From academic accolades to athletic victories, from creative performances to meaningful service, this school year has been one to remember. Take a look back at the moments that made 2024–2025 so special at Catholic Central.

Academics

National Recognition
Katence Brown-Holzgen ’25, Matthew Emery ’26, and Maguire Perdue ’26 were honored by the College Board’s National Recognition Program for their outstanding academic performance.

National Merit Scholars
John B. Kaufman ’25 was named a Commended Student, and Yavin Fickel ’25 earned distinction as a National Merit Semifinalist.

AP Achievement
With 79% of AP students scoring a 3 or higher on their exams, CC posted its highest pass rate in the past decade. This year, 229 students completed 434 AP exams, demonstrating strong academic engagement across disciplines.

STEAM Innovation
Catholic Central maintained its STEM Certification, with 204 students now pursuing a STEAM Designation.

Career Readiness
Students participated in a range of hands-on career exploration activities including YouScience Aptitude Testing, MICareerQuest, Job Shadow Day, and the CC Internship Experience.

Industry Insights
More than 50 guest speakers—from engineers to entrepreneurs—shared real-world expertise with our students.

Student Life

House Competitions
Spirit soared with crowd-favorite events like Lip Sync Battle, House Dodgeball, Quiz Bowl, and House Madness.

All-School Fun
From dances and retreats to the COREX experience, student life was rich with connection and celebration.

Fine Arts

Saint Cecilia Winter Guard
The season started strong with a first-place finish, setting the tone for a successful year in performance.

Theater Productions
Audiences enjoyed three lively productions: The Comedy of Errors, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and High School Musical—each showcasing our students’ creativity and talent.

Madrigal Dinner
The 28th annual Renaissance-style feast and performance was once again a festive and memorable event.

Athletics

Girls Soccer – State Champions!
Capping off a relentless postseason run, Girls Soccer made history by bringing home CC’s first-ever state championship in soccer—girls or boys—with a 2–0 victory over Warren Regina.

Girls Lacrosse – State Runner-Up
The defending 2024 state champs made it all the way back to the finals, proving their place as one of the state’s elite programs.

Girls Varsity Golf
Claimed the Division 3 State Championship for the second consecutive year.

Football
Secured a ninth straight district and regional championship—an ongoing tradition of excellence.

Equestrian
The team returned to competition this fall. Interested riders can learn more at miha.org.

Wrestling
A season of dominance: third straight district title, OK White Conference Championship, nine regional qualifiers—and individual state titles for Dale Gant (his third) and Mikey Wilson (his second).

Cross Country
Jeb Hillary ’24 set a new school record with a 7th place finish at the State Finals, leading the team to 19th overall.

Boys Basketball
Back-to-back Regional Champions, nine straight OK Conference titles, and six of the last seven district titles.

Service

Service Hours
From June 1, 2024 to June 1, 2025, CC students logged a total of 14,359 service hours—a powerful testament to their commitment to faith in action.

March for Life
Over 100 students and staff traveled to Washington, D.C., to stand for the sanctity of life.

Community Outreach
Students painted bowls for Soup’s On For All, supported families through our Thanksgiving and Christmas drives, and raised nearly $40,000 during Serve-a-thon 2024 to support tuition assistance.
