As we enter the Advent season, Campus Ministry would like to update you on a few of our recent initiatives and share plans for this Advent with you:
- Thank you to all who participated in our annual Thanksgiving Project. Your support helped us donate an unprecedented amount of food, clothing, and diapers to the Westminster Food Pantry, Cathedral Outreach Clothing Center, and St. Gianna’s Baby Pantry. These items will greatly help those in need, especially during this time of year. Thank you so much!
- Many blessings to our Seniors who participated in their Kairos Retreat in November. Kairos 9 was a powerful time for prayer, the Sacraments, and small-group faith sharing. Congratulations to the K9 student leaders and adults who did an outstanding job leading the retreat.
During Advent, we will be offering the following opportunities for prayer and renewal:
- On December 4, we offered a Day of Penance and Reconciliation. With over 20 priests present, our school community prayed, examined their lives, and, if desired, had the opportunity to go to confession and receive the Sacrament of Penance.
- On December 8, we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the BVM with Bishop Walkowiak presiding at Mass. Mass begins at 10:20 am in the Cathedral. All are welcome to join us.
- On December 12, we will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mass begins at 7:15 am in the Cathedral. We will begin with songs to our Blessed Mother at 7:00 am in the Second Floor Student Center. All are welcome to join us. This is a very important feast day for our Latino community, and we are excited to celebrate it as a school!
- In addition to our all-school Masses, we continue to offer Mass on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 7:15 am in our school Chapel. All are welcome to attend the celebration of daily Mass with us.
- Advent is the time for Christmas Families! This annual service project will provide Christmas presents for 34 families from the Cathedral parish and the surrounding area. Each Coram Deo is “adopting” a family - praying for them and bringing in gifts to share with them. The Christmas Family gifts will be delivered after our final Advent Mass on Friday, December 19. Mass will begin in the Cathedral at 9:30 am, and all are welcome to join us.
- Our annual Christmas Concert will be held on December 10 at 7 pm in the Cathedral. This collage-style concert will feature our Concert Band, Jazz Band, Capella Choir, Men’s Choir, and Women’s Chorale. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the sounds of the season in a beautiful, sacred space. All are invited to attend this free event.
We want to wish all of you a continued blessed Advent and a holy Christmas season!
Peace,
Dcn. Dennis Rybicki
