The annual three-day Community Religious Experience (COREX) at Camp Blodgett on Lake Michigan is fast approaching. For years, this experience has helped unify the senior class and positively influence the student body throughout the school year.
One of the most meaningful moments of COREX is when each senior receives a letter from a parent, guardian, or designated family representative. Throughout the retreat, students participate in discussions and activities that lead up to the presentation of these letters.
This letter is an opportunity to share your love, encouragement, and hopes for your son or daughter. You may choose to write about special memories from childhood, examples of personal growth you have witnessed, words of affirmation, or your hopes and prayers for their future. Some families include photographs, favorite poems, or additional letters from relatives, mentors, or other significant people who have played an important role in their child's life.
If parents are divorced or separated, a letter from each parent is especially appreciated. The letter may also be written by another family member if circumstances make that necessary. Our hope is that this becomes a keepsake your child will treasure for years to come.
Most importantly, please ensure that a letter is submitted. Students who do not receive a letter experience a very real disappointment during an otherwise meaningful retreat experience.
Please do not allow your student to read the letter before COREX.
If you have questions about the importance of the letter or would like assistance writing it, please contact:

Many COREX staff members and alumni can attest to the significance of these letters and would be happy to help.
Please return your letter to Catholic Central by July 20.
You may:
If you use your own envelope, please clearly write your student's name on the front so the letter can be delivered without being opened.
Your cooperation is extremely important and contributes greatly to the success of your child's COREX experience.
For families with students serving on CORE Team: These letters are separate from any letters being sent for the Kairos retreat.
For parents attending the weekend or serving as cooks: Please complete and submit your letter by the deadline. This greatly assists with organization, and you will not have time during the retreat to write your letter.
Thank you for helping make COREX a meaningful and memorable experience for your child.
Sincerely,
The Catholic Central COREX Staff
