CC Counselors recently followed up with Freshman and Sophomore students with a second career lesson. During the Freshman lesson, students prepared for an upcoming field trip to MI Career Quest, reviewed the results of the career assessments completed earlier this year in SCOIR, and learned how to create a “talent portfolio” in their SCOIR account.  Parents are encouraged to review their student’s self-reported Activities & Achievements in their SCOIR profile.

During the Sophomore lesson, students reviewed the results of their YouScience Career Aptitude Assessment and learned about their natural talents and careers aligned with their strengths and interests. Sophomores also learned how their “talent portfolio” in SCOIR can be used to create a basic resume.  Parents are encouraged to discuss their student’s results together as well as support job shadowing experiences this summer.

Mrs. Heidi Smitley, CC’s College Counselor, spoke with 9th and 10th graders about the importance of using their SCOIR account as a tool that supports their post-high school goals and plans.
