Students and Staff Enter Full Communion with the Catholic Church

This year, Catholic Central celebrated a special milestone as two seniors and a staff member were fully received into the Catholic Church. Seniors Phoebe Tagliareni and Cole Gorham, who were both baptized as children but had never received First Communion or Confirmation, completed their initiation this spring at St. Robert of Newminster. Through friendships and their experience of Catholic culture at CC, both developed a desire to deepen their faith and become fully Catholic. Their reception into full communion allowed them to fully participate in school Masses and receive the Eucharist alongside their classmates.

A similar journey unfolded for social studies teacher Troy Harvey. Raised in a non-denominational evangelical church, Troy was first struck by the faith-filled culture of Catholic Central when he witnessed students and faculty kneeling together to pray the Memorare. Encouraged by the daily witness of colleagues and students—and by fellow teacher and childhood friend Josh Aldrich, who had recently converted himself—Troy began exploring the Catholic faith more deeply. He entered the conversion process in the summer of 2025 and was confirmed and received his First Communion on All Saints’ Day at the Basilica of Saint Adalbert. Troy says becoming Catholic has strengthened both his faith and his vocation as an educator, helping him see teaching as a calling rooted in forming students in mind, body, and spirit. The journeys of Phoebe, Cole, and Troy are powerful reminders of how faith-filled community can inspire hearts and draw people closer to Christ.
