SHAKESPEARE AUDITIONS - There’s still time to sign up for Shakespeare auditions! Sign up for your spot HERE! We encourage you to show us all you’ve got!  Feel free to come with a monologue but there will also be cold reads and improv. Scripts will be available outside the audition room for cold reads. Resumes are not required but are always welcome. HINT - Study Act 2 Scene 1 of Midsummer Nights Dream. There will be time before your slot to look over the scripts and fill out the audition form with any known conflicts from November through January. VOTE FOR PLAY OF THE WEEK - WOOD TV8 is again running our Play of the Week poll on woodtv.com for the high school football regular season. Nominees are picked each week by our sports staff, the public votes for their favorite on woodtv.com and the winner gets bragging rights. Catholic Central's Kamall Hillard is one of the nominees this week. Votes can be cast here on woodtv.comhttps://www.woodtv.com/football-frenzy-play-of-the-week-poll/. Voting ends Thursday night and the winner will be announced Friday morning during our Football Frenzy Tailgate and on woodtv.com.

MICHIGAN MARCH FOR LIFE - This year the Michigan March for Life falls on Thursday, November 6th, and we are sending a bus of students to Lansing to march and advocate for the rights of the unborn. If you would like to attend, please get $25 to Mrs. Lambert as soon as possible...Seats are being scooped up FAST! You will be back in time for ALL after school activities!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Seniors! The SANP Fall Carnival needs volunteers for this coming Friday!  

  • When: Friday at 3:45-6pm
  • Where: CAT (grass area) 
  • Volunteer hrs: 2hrs helping with games for younger kids and cleanup afterwards.

PRO LIFE SHIRTS - T-shirts are $15 each, hats are $10. Purchase to support Students for Life and to support the Pro-Life Movement! Thursday, wear ANY Pro-Life T-shirt with your uniform bottoms. Also, sign up for Focus so you can join us in the courtyard to write Pro-Life messages for the Heartside Community to see!

BAND FUNDRAISER - The Band’s Annual Mattress Sale is coming up soon! Join them next Sunday, Nov 2nd from 11:00am-4:00pm at the CAT. This is a great opportunity for students to get a mattress protector for college next year. Money earned goes towards the Band Chicago trip.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

  • ASA is hosting a small art show in our gymnasium for the artists and their families on Tuesday, October 28th at 5:30 PM. It’s almost time to show families all of the hard work and time that students have put into their masterpieces. They are looking for three volunteers to set up and help at the art show from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday October 28th. The Art Show is going to be in the gymnasium at our lower campus which is located at 2233 Diamond Ave Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Responsibilities would include: hanging pictures, checking in kids and families for our service project, assisting with snack service, and helping at our bowl painting station (we have 25 people who will be painting bowls for God’s Kitchen).   • The St. John Vianney Auction needs your help! Auction will be held on Saturday, November 8. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours, get involved, and enjoy a free dinner while you're at it. Sign up HERE to volunteer.

COUGAR GEAR STORE - Looking for something new to wear? The Cougar Gear Store has you covered! In store they have 3 full racks of LuluLemon, North face fleece jackets, new styles of beanies, and many other new items for sale. Below is a list of dates that the Cougar Gear store will be open. They will also be open for playoff games for football & soccer. The store will be open for 3-4 Christmas shopping dates.

CAREER TALKS - Sign up in Focus Time

  • Tuesday 10/21 - Nurse Practitioner - Liza Wilson FNP, University of Michigan Health - West will talk about being a nurse practitioner and the opportunities surrounding this career choice.
  • Thursday 10/23 - Engineering - Maureen Kozel, a senior mechanical engineer at Progressive Companies talks about her experiences and the opportunities surrounding the field of engineering.

STEAM OPPORTUNITIES - On November 12th, Progressive Companies (not the insurance company) will hold a Fall Job Shadow Event at their headquarters. You get to hear about the company, do an interactive activity, and learn about the many careers they employ (engineers, architects, designers, etc). Lunch is also included. You can learn about each of these disciplines to determine which one might be the best fit for you. Register at the link on the flyer. You also need to let Mrs. VanderMolen know about your plans to attend, so she can make sure your absence that day is considered school related. STEAM hours apply!

BLESSING OF THE DAY - May you know God is with you in your isolation whether it is by chance or by choice. When you are feeling remote and distanced from all else, when you stand alone with no visible means of support, may you find the God of union. May you discover this God in the small crevices of your awareness, loving you just as you are and inviting you to be one with yourself. And in that reunion may you come into one with all creation.
