Our Student Handbook explains that “the school uniform is meant to signify school membership, minimize competition, maximize convenience, and be cost conscious. In addition, the uniform should promote self-respect and pride in being identifiable as a Catholic Central student.” With the intention stated in the school handbook, we institute specific policies to help students dress in a respectful and professional manner while also allowing for an objective standard that can be enforced by all faculty. 

Please note that all policies will be enforced with a focus on skirt/short length and being clean shaved starting on the first day of school. It is important that students and parents understand the expectations. 

Please work with your student to make sure of the the following:

‍Dress Code for Boys:

• Shirts: White or blue uniform oxford or polo shirts. Shirts must be buttoned to form a modest neckline (on all button down shirts, no more than the top two manufactured button holes may be unbuttoned). Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Undershirts may be worn in plain white, black, gray, navy, or royal blue under the uniform shirt. Undershirts must be solid in color and without design or graphic.
• Pants: Conventional, properly fitting khaki pants with belt loops must be worn. No cargo, jean type, jogger, or low rise pants are allowed. 
• Shorts:  Conventional, properly fitting khaki shorts with belt loops must be worn. Length must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. No cargo, jean type, or low rise shorts are allowed.
• Belts: A plain black or brown belt must be worn with pants and shorts.
• Shoes: Casual or dress shoes with a closed toe are acceptable. Any form of sandals or “flip flops” will not be permitted. 
• Socks: Socks must be visible and only black, navy blue, royal blue, gray or white may be worn. Socks should be solid in color and design. Slight variations are acceptable (i.e. manufacturer logos, athletic stripe).
• Sweaters/Outerwear:  Navy blue sweater, vest, quarter-zip, full-zip, or cardigan with CC’s monogram, available only through CC’s uniform provider, may be worn at any time over a uniform shirt. CC’s uniform provider also offers numerous options of outerwear for colder weather. Other outerwear (i.e. sports/club sweatshirts) shall not be worn, carried or draped across the shoulders during the school day. 
• Facial Hair:  Students must be clean shaven and hair is to be neatly groomed. Not permitted: beards, mustaches, and any facial hair whatsoever. Students who are not clean-shaven may be asked to shave at school. 
• Hair: Hair should be professional and presentable at all times. Parameters for professional and presentable are that hair should not extend below the students eyebrows, covering any part of the face below the eyebrows. Hair should not extend beyond the shirt collar unless approved by administration. Hair that is longer must be tied up and neat. Extreme variations in color, length, and designs (including but not limited to mohawks, lettering, shaved designs in the hair) are not permitted. Neatly and professionally braided or tied up hair is permissible. Professional and presentable hair is determined at the discretion of the school’s administration. Males may not wear hair accessories during the school day. Sideburns are not to extend below the ear. Students told to get a haircut must report to the office on a specified day.
• Headwear:  No hats or headwear are to be worn during the school day. Bandanas are not permitted.
• Jewelry:  Small earrings worn in the ear lobe may be worn. No spiked jewelry or choker chains are permitted. No body piercing (including tongue rings) are permitted. Nose piercings are permitted only if it is a small stainless steel stud or a clear piercing (preferred). Sunglasses are not permitted to be worn during the school day. No pins, stickers, patches or other accessories may be added to the uniform. 

Dress Code for Girls:

• Skirt: Uniform skirts may be worn at any time of the year. Skirts should be worn without rolling of the waistband. Length should be no more than three inches above the top of the knee cap. If a student’s skirt is not in compliance, the student will be required to wear uniform shorts/pants for the remainder of the school year or until a skirt that is in compliance is obtained.
• Shirt: White or blue uniform oxford or polo shirts. Shirts must be buttoned to form a modest neckline (on all button down shirts, no more than the top two manufactured button holes may be unbuttoned). Shirts may not be layered except for a plain white, black, gray, navy, or royal t-shirt worn under the uniform shirt. Camisoles may be worn, but length must not extend past the uniform shirt.
• Pants: Conventional, properly fitting khaki pants with belt loops must be worn. No cargo, jean type, jogger, or low rise pants are allowed. 
• Shorts:  Conventional, properly fitting khaki shorts with belt loops must be worn. Length must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. No cargo, jean type, or low rise shorts are allowed.

• Sweaters/Outerwear: Navy blue v-neck, vest or cardigan with CC’s monogram, available only through CC uniform provider, may be worn at any time over a uniform shirt. CC’s uniform provider also offers numerous options of outerwear for colder weather. Other outerwear (i.e. sports/club sweatshirts) shall not be worn, carried or draped across the shoulders during the school day.
• Hair:  Hair color must be a naturally occurring color; eccentric hairstyles are not permitted. 
• Headwear:  No hats are to be worn during the school day. Bandanas are not permitted.

‍Dress Down/Spirit Days:  

On these days it is equally important that each student take individual responsibility for their appearance. Students may wear full length jeans or other pants that are not ripped, torn, or frayed (including those manufactured to look frayed). If a student chooses to participate, the student must adhere to the “theme” of the dress down/spirit day. Catholic Central clothing is encouraged – t-shirts, sweatshirts, or fleece. All other clothing must be appropriate, modest and in good taste. Clothing that refers to drugs, alcohol, sex, profanity, or polarizing topics in written or visual form is not acceptable. Athletic sandals and flip flops are not permitted at any time. Spandex, leggings, or stretch/yoga pants are not permitted at any time.
